The new millennium has drowned with promises of a new social order based on peace and justice. Everywhere the walls of separation are crumbling down. The winds of change are blowing to purge the nations of their insularity.

Communication networks are spreading beyond the political frontiers. Psychological inhibitions are perishing and acculturation is becoming the way of the world. Everywhere democratic societies are asserting their rights to grow intellectually and economically and private entrepreneurs are establishing expedient mechanisms to provide essential services. The government of Bangladesh, endowed with the visionary leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia, passed the Private University Act in 1992 in order to make higher education more available to the students who aspire to develop themselves as resourceful human beings. The People's University of Bangladesh is the manifestation of a combination of this vision of the government and the munificence of those who lent all support to the students to equip themselves adequately to move along with the rapidly progressing world. Now, as University celebrates its seventh year of being, I would thank our present students, the entire faculty and the administrators-in fact everyone including the former students, for the repute and glory they have brought to this Institution. I wish they will continue to the maneuver their beloved University ever forward in its noble journey.

Iam excited as we come across another milestone of achievements in the journey of the people's University of Bangladesh (PUB).The celebration of the 7th anniversary of the foundation of PUB is a source of profound

happiness and joy to me. It is truly a delightful occasion when all members of the PUB family join in the celebration and collective spirit and consciousness of the mission of this private sector provider of higher education in Bangladesh. We renew our commitment of working in a team towards progressive building of PUB as a world-wide reputed platform of higher education. PUB exists to ensure an enabling environment for transfer of appropriate knowledge and skills to its students.

It is a rewarding event as we take the time to post our sincerest gratitude to the faculty members, the administration and the supporting staff, the students, the parents and guardians for the excellent teamwork realized through wonderful performance of respective roles and responsibilities

I find it a rare opportunity and privilege to be able to express our gratitude and appreciation to the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia for enacting the private University Act, 1992. In the course of time, it has blossomed in to a thriving and competitive private sector institution of world-class education in Bangladesh.

Let us work together in building PUB in the days to come.
