Author’s Introduction
Husne
Ara Shahed is one of the most populated writers
of Bangladesh. She earned considerable repute through
her writings that are characterized by acute social
consciousness, deep insight into human nature and
lively wit. The wide gamut of her writings incorporates
essays, belles-leters, short stories and numerous
articles on socio-educational aspects. She is so
far 44 books to her credit and 6 more about to be
published. By profession, she is a teacher. She
is the Principal of Dhaka’s well-known Sher-e-Bangla
Girls’ College at Tikatooly.
She
has been associated with journalism as well. Her
weekly column ‘Pawther Paanchali’ in the now-abolished
‘Dainik Bangla’ enjoyed tremendous popularity among
the readers in the seventies and eighties. Wife
of A. F. Shahed Ali and mother of three children,
Husne Ara Shahed’s paternal district is Lakshmipur
(under greater Noakhali) and father-in-law’s
district is Gopalganj (under greater Faridpur).
