Educational Administration in Bd.
|
The Ministry of Education (MOE) is the top authority for administration of education in Bangladesh. While the general education (both secondary and higher), the technical education and the Madrasha education are controlled by the MOE, primary and mass education division is under the direct control of the Prime Minister.
The Directorate of Primary and Mass Education looks after primary and mass education, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education looks after secondary and higher education and the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) looks after technical and vocational education throughout the country.
The Directorate of Inspection and Audit is mainly responsible to check up the proper use of govt. money allocated towards the salary of teachers and employees of the non-govt. educational institutes.
The Facilities Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of educational buildings. The National Curriculum and Text Book Board (NCTB) is responsible for the development of curriculum and production of textbooks.
Seven Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE)
are responsible for conducting the two public examinations, S.S.C. and H.S.C., in addition to granting recognition/affiliation to secondary schools and colleges. The Technical Education Board and the Bangladesh Madrasha Education Board do similar functions in their respective fields.
The National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM) and the National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) impart in-service training to the teachers and educational officers within their own jurisdiction.
Universities in Bangladesh are autonomous bodies administered through their own organs such as Syndicate, Senate, Academic Council etc. within the general framework of the respective Acts and Ordinances. Of course the financial side of the public universities is controlled by the University Grants Commission.
